My first diaper cake - so easy. I made it for Emilie Foss's baby shower in March. Her cute baby, Landon, will hopefully be good buddies with Connor as they grow older.
I made cake pops for the shower too. Unfortunately, I only made 6 'owl' cake pops before I decided that they took too much effort and I'd rather just eat chocolate without the extra candies. I gave the owl ones to Kevin and Brody.
We went to Grandpa and Grandma Bennett's house while Deanna was here over the Easter weekend. Grandma Bennett just happens to know the Easter Bunny and he visited her backyard and left stuff for all of the kids. Brody clued in quickly and was soon running around and screaming in excitement whenever he found another treat. Thanks Grandma!
Deanna's oldest, Lauren, with her first egg.
We had a birthday supper for Grandpa Bennett, and all of the kids helped him blow out the candles. Brody was very excited. Man, was this cake delicious!!!! Great job Dee and Mom.
Deanna's family came out on Easter Saturday for the Stirling Easter Egg Hunt, and they enjoyed finding lots of treats at the reunion centre. Brody was candied up all weekend! Afterwards, we went over to my sister-in-law Angie's house to check out the baby chicks that were hatching right then!! This was SO cool - especially for a city-born family and their children that have never seen something like this. The kids were ready to go, but me, Mom and Deanna couldn't leave until this brave little chick finally busted out of his shell. What a neat thing to watch!
The new baby chick! (check out the other beaks poking out as those chicks hatch too!)
Dee, Jade and the chick as it was being moved so that it wouldn't be trampled by the other new ones.
While we were there, they also showed us their brand new baby kittens (literally brand new), and their snake, and Gunner didn't want to be out-done, so he went out to the garden and dug up a worm to bring in to show us as his pet. He was so proud of his worm. :) What a cutie.
On Easter Monday we went to Grant and Connie's house for Easter Egg dying. Here's Brody as he started his first egg. He only had an attention span for about 3.
After that he decided to catch Gracie in a net. She was a good sport.
Elena has a new look - this was the new thing to do at our egg dying party. Seems like it is something different every year.
We throw the eggs down the hill behind my house after we're done. This year was especially exciting because a good portion of the eggs were not quite boiled enough. It made some of the egg-fighting that goes on between the older cousins a bit more exciting. I think Autumn got the worst of it. Here Brody is checking out the broken eggs. He didn't really want to break his.
Finally he got into the spirit of things...
...and he started hitting the eggs on the ground. He didn't want to throw the eggs at all - and I don't blame him. Once the egg has left the hand, it's free game for anyone else to pick it up if unbroken (there-by joining in the egg fight). Eventually all of his eggs ended up down a gopher hole.
Kevin showed up after the fun was just about over, and was able to take Brody his best friend Briggs on a quad ride. This is my backyard.
Back at the house, Connie was able to watch Connor and Breaker, the other best buddies. Sorry for the blurry picture. Breaker is just three months older than Connor, but it's fun to see the two boys starting to take a bit more of an interest in each other.
Connor turned 6mo. old recently! Here he is after his first rice cereal!! He did pretty good! Unfortunately, he's completely changed his mind since then and now won't take anything, and gags on everything. He doesn't seem to be starving by any means though, so I will just keep offering.
We had one day of 27C weather last week, so Brody was thrilled to be able to play outside while I cleaned up the yard and started getting the garden ready to be rototilled. Brody is enjoying his giant sandbox while it lasts though.
Grandma and Grandpa Nelson have officially left for their mission, and Angie and Jeff are renovating their house, so they are staying at Kevin's parent's house while the renos happen. I was excited when Angie asked me to take their daughter to her riding lessons and Heart's Haven, by Raymond. What a wonderful facility. Brody and I watched the lesson at the side. They did some horse jumping and dressage, and this is just my 10 year old niece doing this!! So fun. If any of my kids are interested, I would love to put them in this when they're older. Jade let Brody ride the horse for it's cool down. He was SOOOO excited to be able to wear a purple helmet. Jade led the horse around, and he kept saying "I'm wearing a purple helmet!", over and over. Thanks Jade!
It sounds like you guys are having a blast. I wish we could be there to have some fun with your family too!Your boys are growing up way too fast! And are of course, as adorable as ever. P.S. I'm loving your new blog look. Good job!
