Life on the Farm!

The season of long summer hours for Kevin has begun! With the lack of rain we have been getting, Kevin is starting to get quite busy with managing the farm's irrigation. It is a common sight to have him come home soaked from head to toe after trying to fix a pivot on one of their fields. One day this week he came home dressed like this, and I couldn't help but laugh. The hip weighters are oh so nice, Kevin!

Kevin's also made a new best friend. Our last kitten magically disappeared a while ago (how sad!) and Kevin decided he liked having one around, so he came home the next day with our new kitten, lovingly named "Cow" by Tycee. Cow is the brother of our last cat, and seems to absolutely adore Kevin. This following picture is a common sight these days as Kevin rests quickly at supper time before going back out to work. Cow will jump right up on his shoulder as he watches TV, or will, like you see, fall asleep right on his chest while he naps.

Deanna, Dave, Lauren and Keira were down in Lethbridge for Father's Day, and to see Kimmy and Jared's new baby. I convinced Deanna to bring the girls out to Stirling to show Lauren all of the different animals on the farm! She was very concerned about stepping in the 'poop' on the way through the field to see the horses.

Finally, we found a nice horse that didn't mind us petting it's nose. Lauren was a little nervous at first, but she seemed to enjoy it once she realized the horse wasn't going to eat her.
Lauren was a big fan of all of the cats at Angie and Jeff's house. Here is one of their littlest kittens. We had to work hard to convince her that there were other animals she might like to see too, like the chickens...

and the turkey

I finally got to steal Kevin away from the farm to go to the wedding reception for my cousin, Devin Bennett, and his new wife, (and my cousin on my mom's side), Kristie McCue. This isn't the best picture, but it's the only one I have of Keira. She is starting to get a bit chunkier, and has the most adorable smile, if you can get her to show it to you. She is growing up so fast!

Allie, Rachel, Diane and Lisa sand a number in the program during the reception. They are so talented!

Lauren especially enjoyed the weddind desserts - mini chocolate cupcakes. Here's what happened when we forgot to watch her for a minute, and she ate one on her own...

We had a wonderful Father's Day weekend, with the whole family around to celebrate our dad. I am so grateful for the example my dad is for me, and for the endless work and service he has given me throughout my life. Love you Dad! Happy Father's Day!

Getting to Know the Baldrys

In anticipation for their upcoming wedding, Shawn and Brett thought it would be fun to throw a BBQ for both families to help us to get to know one another! Brett convinced Shawn to get one of the horses out after dinner to let the kids have a ride. Of coarse, Shawn had to ask Gracie to help him get the horse ready, although he denies that he doesn't know how. While some kids rode on the horses, the others all started playing a game of football on the lawn outside of Connie and Grant's house. We were entertained for the whole evening, watching the kids get the football, get tackled, start to cry, get angry, and then chase after whoever took the football from them. It was worth more than a few laughs!
Gracie thought she would take a rest in one of Connie's planters.
